Battery Act (Batteriegesetz)
Our obligation to inform according to the Battery Act (Batteriegesetz)
The symbol of the crossed-out bin on batteries and accumulators indicates that these must not be disposed of in household waste at the end of their life. If the batteries or accumulators contain mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), or lead (Pb), the respective chemical symbol can be found below the crossed-out bin symbol. By law, you are required to return used batteries and accumulators. You can do this free of charge at the point of sale or at another collection point nearby. You can obtain addresses of suitable collection points from your city or local authority.
Batteries may contain substances harmful to the environment and human health. Special caution is required when handling lithium-containing batteries due to the associated risks. Separate collection and proper disposal of used batteries and accumulators help prevent negative impacts on the environment and human health.
To minimize waste, we recommend opting for batteries with a longer lifespan or rechargeable batteries. Additionally, avoid littering public spaces by not leaving batteries or battery-powered devices carelessly lying around. Consider whether a battery can be reused, for example, by reconditioning or repairing it, instead of disposing of it.
